Older People Need Yoga
“Older people need to keep their muscles moving the same as anyone else or they will lose their strength. Yoga is an excellent way to accomplish this. Older people also need to move around for a feeling of well-being.”

Yoga Eases Hot Flashes and Boosts Memory
“Sun salutations may be the answer when getting older makes you sweat and forget. A new Indian study involving 120 women found that those who practiced yoga (along with breathing exercises and meditation) for an hour five days a week had 50 percent fewer hot flashes and night sweats than those who simply did stretching exercises. The yoga group also reported improved memory. By helping you unwind, yoga is thought to free up your mind to control body functioning.”

Hi Adele, Isn’t it amazing where a link will take you? I didn’t know this blog existed. Thanks for the tip by the way, I’m so fat right now, a big lumpy lump (I know, you can’t see it, but I know it’s there). So I’m off to do my Salutes. Should get through at least one without collapsing .. lol!

Older people are no different from younger people exceptin years and in the excuses we sometimes give ourselves for not doing (yoga, Pilates, walking, running, aerobics).
I ran regularly, from early adulthood past menopause — still exercise regularly (20 years later), but don’t run — and I have never had hot flashes or extreme mood swings, not have I taken the popularly prescribed hormone tablets. Thankfully. (I take no regular medications.)
I believe the studies. We need to move……. Moving and stretching keeps our energy flowing and our joints lubricated.
